QYA

For years, I have crept through the aisles of the public library, reading the backs and inside covers of the books in the young adult section, hoping to find books where girls don’t kiss boys, they kiss girls. I looked on website after website for lists of queer related literature, but unfortunately, many of the books did not meet my expectations, or were hard to find. And when I did find one I loved, I couldn’t go running to my mother or my best friend to tell them how much I loved it, because if I told them I read a book about a lesbian, they would have flipped. So I was limited to squealing to, well, myself.

Recently, I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be great to have a place where I could talk to other readers about my favourite literature? I’m at the older end of YA readers, but I still love to go back to my favourite David Levithan or Maureen Johnson books for the umpteenth time. So I decided to create a place for YA enthusiasts to come together to discuss queer literature.

If this idea makes you pee your pants with excitement, or makes you happy in cleaner ways, check it out!
